OXON HILL, Md. – Police are reviewing surveillance footage after an employee at a hotel in Oxon Hill was shot and killed Monday evening.
Police identified the victim as Jesse Alexis Chavez, 27, of Lorelei Court in Fort Washington, Md.
According to Prince George’s County police, the suspect fled the scene but was caught on camera.
Officers tell WTOP the shooter entered the Clarion Hotel in Oxon Hill, confronted Chavez with a handgun and made a demand.
Cpl. Maria McKinney says there was a confrontation between the gunman and Chavez who worked in the hotel bar, which ended with the employee shot outside the hotel.
The suspect ran to a car and fled in a dark-colored sedan, police say.
A short time later, around 10 p.m., authorities responded to find the worker bleeding with a gunshot wound to his “upper body,” police said.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police have not released the name of the victim.
